Ratchet and Clank Customs...

For this project I have teamed up with game developer Insomniac Games to customize the legendary characters from the Ratchet & Clank video game franchise… www.insomniacgames.com

First, I will do a full quarter cut anatomical sculpt of their main character Ratchet. Not sure how Im going to approa...ch the hands and feet until I can get inside the toy and see its construction but it is a possibility that those parts will be left vinyl, but I'm hoping for the best… Ratchet stands 10" tall to the tip of his ears.

Next up Clank, His parts are way too thin for a full anatomy, so instead I'm going to hinge the top of his head and plant a nice little brain inside… Clank stands 6" tall to the very tip of his antennae.

Last but not least is the big guy Qwark. This guy is huge. He stands 12" tall and is about the size of a basketball. As we speak he is zooming through the atmosphere touring the offices of Insomniac Games, being signed by all his game developers and designers. He should be arriving back just in time for the big auction…

The Auction:
For this auction we are going to donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Starlight Foundation. check out how they help children and their families cope with some serious stuff here- www.starlight.org
All three toys will be auctioned together. The higher the final bid the more we will donate.

$1001-$2000 = 20% donated

Teddy Bear Fetus

This will be my part of the "LOVE MOVEMENT" show...

I have been invited by my good friend Jeremy Brautman to participate in a special show for newly married Japaneses artists Nao and Shin Tanaka. Each have designed their very own vinyl toy for designers to customize.

The show titled "LOVE MOVEMENT" is described as followes…
"As a recently married couple, Shin and Nao have been pondering the lack of love in the world. LOVE MOVEMENT is their way to spread love. The pair of toys will share your message with everyone who sees the show in person and online. We are all incredibly excited to showcase the diverse works.

LOVE MOVEMENT opens at SUPERFROG Gallery on the top floor of New People in San Francisco on Saturday, December 11th, 2010. SUPERFROG is a terrific space, and participating artists are invited to think big and send 2D work to accompany their 3D toy art. Shin and Nao are coming in from Tokyo for the opening reception, which will also feature their original toy art, large sculptures, animation and music by the duo."

So Ive been pondering what to do with these two toys for the show. I thought to myself, what describes "love movement" more then "makin' babies"? well nothing. So for this piece that i will be titling "Egg & Incubator" im going to fashion our little bear friend into a bear shaped egg, then im going to sculpt a small fetal bear baby inside our robot incubator. The bear brings life and the robot provides. Kinda like life you think?
